How To Eat Healthy While Traveling
Let me begin this with a statement: it's all about organization; believe me that's the key!
To
start making it easier, you can ask yourself these questions: Where am
I going?, how long is my flight or car journey?. If you have stops
count those as well, then everything else will be simpler.
If
you have food allergies you would have to be a little bit more careful,
because maybe on those stops it can be harder for you to find things
you can eat, which means you have to prepare yourself in advance, and I
tell you this as a person whose lactose intolerant, I sadly know what
I'm talking about!
So
let's say you now have all the answers to those questions, and it's
time to prepare everything for your trip; if you're going on a road trip
it means you hardly have any limitation contrary to going by plane,
then you have to make sure everything you're taking with you it's
allowed on the plane.
If
it is a short trip you can take things like fruits (apples, bananas,
nectarines..), cereal, protein bars, rice crackers, nuts, among others.
But if you're going on a long trip with one stop or more you have to
re-evaluate the situation, because as I said, if you're traveling by car
you can even bring a travel cooler with you, and there you can put some
yogurt, salads, veggies like cherry tomatoes, baby carrots, celery
sticks, etc.. Also you could try and find some healthy stuff on your
stops along with the refreshing drinks of course.
Then again if
you're flying it can be more difficult but not impossible, you can still
take some of the things you take for your short trip because those are
going to be your snacks, but you could also take salads like quinoa
salad or things like grilled chicken, boiled eggs, healthy muffins,
basically cooked stuff, and of course NO liquids; these are going to be
your main meals if you won't or can't eat the plane food.
If
you want to make sure everything you're taking it's allowed on the
plane, check on the Airline website, but I've never had any problem
traveling with those things. Of course in the airport you can buy
yourself a drink and If you find something you can eat then feel free to
have a treat.
These
tips not only can be helpful if you're on a diet and you want to
stay healthy, or if you have food allergies, they would also help if you
don’t want to spent much money on the airport; and you can maybe adapt
these tips as well if you're traveling with kids.
Hope you find this post useful and if you are traveling soon, Bon Voyage!!
