Feeling Of The Month -Acceptance-
One of the wonderful
things about life is that it's unpredictable, everything is in constant change
and nothing is permanent, if we learn to accept every aspect of our life,
negative or positive, we are most likely to see life in another perspective.
We find peace when
we learn to truly accept what happens in our lives and that leads us to a
happier one, instead of always trying to change things we can't change. The
experiences we live and the impact they have in our lives transform us, it is
why we have to learn to accept them. When we accept, we develop the ability to
turn the negative aspects of our lives into positive experiences, of course,
it's not an easy process because life is full of challenges and some
experiences are hard to embrace and turn into a positive point of view, but
from the moment we live based on acceptance it is easier to go through these
circumstances.
When we talk about
acceptance, we don't just talk about embracing experiences, we also talk about
accepting other people, when sometimes we don’t like someone but we have to
work with them, or have to be around them, we usually say: I can tolerate
her/him. It’s easy to tolerate someone but accepting them makes us grow and
become happier, because we can't change people, but if we learn to accept them,
we find peace in our mind. There is no point in comparing ourselves to other
people's life, we must practice Self-acceptance, allow yourself to be you,
accept who you are and the place you are in, embrace every experience you have,
positive or negative, although, when we already practice acceptance we won’t
see an experience as negative, because as I said at the beginning, when we
learn to accept, our perspective of life changes.
For me, the secret
of happiness is acceptance, it gives you freedom and help you to move forward
without focusing on things not worth focusing on, just enjoying life as it is.
To finish, I'm going
to quote Michael J Fox who said: "Acceptance doesn’t mean resignation. It
means understanding that something is what it is and there's got to be a way
through it".
