My Summer Essentials

I'm so excited, summer is around the corner and of course I already started to put out my essentials for the season. Let's talk about them!

1 Protect your skin.

We all know how important this one is, not only in summer but all year around. On my face the one that I'm using is Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunscreen with SPF 55, the skin in our face is super delicate and we have to protect it, I know, we all want to have that beautiful bronzy look but sacrificing your skin is not a good idea. I like this formula because it dries quickly and is not heavy at all. For my body I've been using Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Lotion SunscreenUltra Radiance, I'm just going to start by saying, the smell of this is AMAZING, it literally smells like holidays! Also when you apply it, your skin looks so nice, it gives you a beautiful natural shine that makes you look awesome, I'm really enjoying using this one.

2 For a natural look.

In summer I'm not a fan of using foundation or heavy makeup in general, because you start building that beautiful color and you don’t want to cover that up, so I prefer using BB creams and Tinted moisturizers for a natural look. For BB Cream I've been using the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB, I love this one because it does give you some coverage but in a natural way, it helps you even up your skin which is what I look for, it also has SPF 30 and is not greasy at all. For tinted moisturizer I've been loving the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer, this one also has SPF 30 and gives you a beautiful natural look. It does give you a radiant look that can sometimes look a bit greasy,  I wouldn't recommend it If you have oily skin, but for the rest it is a good one.

When summer arrives cream products are my best friends, they are so easy to use and they always look super natural on your skin. For blush, I love Kevyn Aucoin The Creamy GlowDuo #2, it has 2 beautiful shades, a bright pink and a muted pink, they apply smoothly and are so easy to blend, also you can also use them on your lips, so you basically have two products in one, great right?

My favorite cream highlighter is the Kiko Dazzling Highlighter. Now, this one is not available anymore BUT you can check their new range, they are always bringing new versions. It's a stick highlighter super easy to use that happens to smell delicious too.

3 Bright Lips.

Now, I know I said I love a natural look in summer, but this season is also the one to take out your bright lip colors! You can go natural on the rest of your face, but bright lips are a must. Some of my favorites are:

Kat Von DEverlasting Liquid Lipsticks in Bambi, a beautiful bright blue undertone pink, and A Go Go, a super bright orange color. These are THE BEST, they are super long lasting, you can eat, drink, kiss… And they will stay in place, I can promise you that. I highly recommend them.

If you are not a fan of liquid lipsticks because you don’t like the dry feeling, then the NYX SoftMatte Lip Creams are a great option, they have a big range of colors and are soft on the lips, they do dry matte but without drying your lips, they are in fact pretty moisturizing. 

4 Healthy Hair

Let's not forget about our hair. In summer you start going to the pool, the beach, and you hair feels the consequences, so it is important to take care of it. One of the best ways is by using hair masks, you can do them yourself with natural ingredients (soon I'll do a DIY) or you can buy it.  Some of my favorites products at the moment are Alterna Bamboo Smooth Kendi Oil, this one is great. I've been using it for the past 3 years, I apply it on my end first and what is left on my hand on the rest of my hair, you can use it while your hair is still wet or after you blow dry your hair, another good thing is that it is made with natural ingredients. I've been also loving the TresemmeRenewal Hair & Scalp Leave-in Conditioning Spray, I use this one  after I wash my hair, all over it, it helps me untangle my hair but also gives a natural shine to it, I also feel that after using this my hair has grown faster (I'm not sure if it is because of it, but I want to think it is haha)

5 Accessories

Here I just want to mention two that aren’t just fashionable but also help protecting your face.

Sunglasses are a MUST, yes, they look good and they can pop up any outfit but they also protect your beautiful eyes from the sun, I have sensitive eyes so I can’t live without them. 

Of course I had to mention hats, again, they do look good and are always in, but they also protect your face from the sun, if I'm going to be out all day then having a hat is a must, because you can have sunscreen and all of that, but you shouldn't expose your skin for a long period of time without more protection.

6 Keep yourself Hydrated

WATER. Yes, water it's super important to keep yourself hydrated, I struggle with this and I don’t know why, I just don’t remember to drink water as often or as much as I should, but I'm working on it.

Also there is another thing I love carrying with me in summer and it is the Avene Thermal Water, so good for those moments you feel so hot that you wish you wear near a pool or a beach to jump into it, well take this and spray it all over you, you'll feel fresh in a second, SO GOOD! After I bought it the first time, it has been a must have for the hot season.

So, these are the things I can't live without when summer arrives. Summer is a great season and you have to enjoy it but protect your skin while you do so, you don’t want to be in your 50s regretting you didn’t do it when you had the chance.
